Redeye Academy - Photo David Nightingale

Redeye Academy aims to give you the best available training, development and support in contemporary photography. These workshops are particularly suitable for enthusiasts, amateurs at every level, or anyone looking to improve the quality of their photography and develop their style and voice.

There are a wealth of creative possibilities waiting for you once you have learnt how the camera works.

A weekend of introductory photography workshops. Get to grips with your camera's technical features, make the most of post-production software and empower your photographic voice.

A full day workshop that will give you a grounding in analogue photography. In times when we are bombarded with technology, it’s good to take some time out and try something different. From calotypes and salt prints to daguerreotypes and silk prints, professional practitioner Libby Nightingale will give you an overview and history of traditional methods, film types and processing in this hands-on workshop.

A full day workshop that will ground you in the basics of post-production editing software Adobe Photoshop. Regardless of your expertise in photography, it is rare to achieve such a perfect image straight from the camera that post-production editing can be bypassed. Generally, images will need to be altered in size and adjusted for exposure, tone and print. Professional photographer David Nightingale talks you through the core principals of Photoshop with practical examples; from optimising your RAW files to basic masking and layers.

A full day workshop that will guide you through the fundamentals of urban and architectural photography. Whether it's buildings, transport or people, towns and cities can be challenging yet stimulating to photograph. Professional photographer David Nightingale, with guest speakers, help you to explore the cityscape in this practical workshop, offering advice on composition and getting the best results from the equipment you have.

A full day workshop that will guide you through the fundamentals of street photography. Street photography is one of the most difficult genres of photography to master because your subjects and the conditions are so unpredictable. From dealing with strangers to creating a visual narrative, professional photographer David Nightingale, and guest speakers, will guide you through key techniques to give you the confidence to start shooting.

For many photographers, who do not need to use layers or extensive masking, this is the only software they will need.
