Photographers and the Law

Photographers increasingly run into legal issues in the course of their work. The most commonly encountered difficulties are in the areas of access & consent, and copyright & usage. Launchpad business planning workshop

5 December 2011, 10:30 to 13:30

This morning workshop goes through the advantages of good business planning.

How do you know when the time is right to make major decisions in your business? What is your vision for the business? How do you know if you are on track? Have you set any targets? How do you measure the performance of your business and plan ahead? Presenters: Nancy Dykins and Michele Bentham.

Build your own 10x8” Pinhole Camera

5 December 2011, 10:30 to 17:00

This workshop covers DIY large format cameras, shooting and processing with Chris Leyland. In the morning you will build your own 10x8" pinhole camera which you can take away with you (this is included in the price). No particular skills are required for this. In the afternoon you will shoot with your camera on direct positive paper, and process it on site. This is sure to be a day like no other, aimed at inspiring you to try new ideas and techniques. You can bring a sturdy tripod (with the larger 3/8" thread size) for your camera if you like, but it is not necessary.

Slaughterhouse Studios in Salford are hosting a day of Broncolor, Hasselblad and Eizo demonstrations on 1 December.

In the studio you will be able to play with Broncolor’s Scoro packs, giant parabolic reflectors, and battery packs ideal for location shoots. Linked to the lights will be the new Hasselblad H4D-60 camera and Eizo’s new 27? monitor. Bring a memory card if you want to keep your pictures (but you are asked not to publish them).
