Your Legacy!

28 January 2012, 10:00 to 31 January 2012, 16:00

As part of their Northern Legacy Exhibition Bolton Museum are working with Bolton Camera Club to create ‘Your Legacy’ exhibition.

So if you’ve got any snaps of Bolton landscapes (streets, parks, to your own back yard) take them to Bolton Museum on Saturday 28th, Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st January 2012 between 10am and 4pm. Please note the museum will be closed on Sunday 29th January.

With a focus on street photography and the urban landscape, this workshop aims to teach beginners how to use their digital cameras.

The session will begin at Nexus Art Café, where individuals will be taught how to better their shots by making the most of the controls available. Accompanied by the workshop leader, participants will then explore these features further by photographing city centre scenes nearby.

Wildlife Photography

21 January 2012, 10:00 to 22 January 2012, 16:00

Through a mixture of classroom theory and practical sessions using live animals and museum specimens, learn how to photograph natural history subjects.

With Chris Mattison, wildlife photographer and author, and Andrew Gray, Curator of Herpetology at the Museum. You must provide your own equipment. Booking via the Manchester Museum site.

Ori Gersht & Bridget Smith Talks

20 January 2012, 15:30 to 16:30

Photographers and filmmakers Ori Gersht and Bridget Smith each talk about their work, concentrating on acts of faith, at the London Art Fair.

The talk will include a short presentation by each artist on recent projects dealing with the grand themes life and death, faith and belief. Gersht’s works are meditations on life, loss, destiny and chance, while Smith explores the threshold between imagination and reality.

Following the presentation there will be a Q&A chaired by Celia Davies, Head of Programme at Photoworks.

Business of Photography Workshop

19 January 2012, 14:00 to 17:30

Imagework is organising a Lisa Pritchard workshop covering numerous topics concerning the business of photography.

How to prepare a portfolio and website, advice on marketing your business and sourcing clients, costing and producing shoots and finding representation. The presentation will also feature the financing and running of your business and how to deal with contracts and legal obligations. The workshop will conclude with a question and answer session with Lisa invaluable advice as we enter 2012.

Percy Dean Talk

We are delighted to welcome Percy Dean for the first Redeye network meeting of 2012. Percy will be speaking about his project, Clouds of Glory.

The Orthodox Jewish community of Prestwich on the outskirts of Manchester is the second largest in the UK. Percy Dean’s time with this community produced a body of work that addresses their balance between place and culture.

Daniel Meadows Talk

Daniel Meadows will be delivering the next in a series of photographer's talks for the North East Photography Network, at the Mining Institute, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Daniel Meadows’ career as a documentary photographer, oral historian and teacher spans four decades and he is recognised as a prime-mover in an important group of photographers who spear-headed the 1970s independent photography movement.

The highly-acclaimed exhibition, Daniel Meadows: Early Photographic Works is showing at The National Media Museum Bradford until 19 February 2012.

Ffotogallery Courses

Ffotogallery's programme of 10-week long courses in photography and digital media have now been announced for Spring and Summer 2013.

The courses provide the opportunity for learners of all levels to improve their skills. The artist-led classes are held at Chapter in Cardiff.
