Many people still believe the arts are worthy of public funding, but with the recession, and public and private pursestrings drawing tighter, getting funding for your photographic or creative project seems harder than ever. But there are still plenty of opportunities; you just need to know where to look and how to present yourself and your project. This session looks at the various ways of raising money for photography and arts projects.

How do you start a photographic or arts business? The majority of photographers and artists work freelance as sole traders, but it's increasingly important to consider the benefits as well as the pitfalls of short- or long-term working collaborations. This workshop starts with planning, setting up and improving your business as a sole trader, and then considers how to succeed as a group or company.

Masterclass: Camera-less Photography with Paul Kenny

29 October 2012, 10:30 to 17:00
Liverpool

In this hands-on masterclass, delivered in partnership with Redeye and Open Eye, Kenny will guide participants through the camera-less art of the photogram, giving people the opportunity to create their own unique images using darkroom processes.

Developed over the last thirty-five years, Paul Kenny’s exquisite images have evolved through a range of camera-less techniques. With an increasing move towards abstraction, Kenny’s work focuses on awe-inspiring details of the landscape, addressing ideas of fragility, beauty and transience.

An opportunity to explore the panoramic form with Jan Chlebik panorama-maker, teacher and collector.

This is also the last chance to see the acclaimed 'Me and my Panorama' exhibition at the Museum of Lancashire. Jan will also discuss the current Preston People Panorama project he is working on with Dovetail, taking 100 panoramas in and around Preston for a further exhibition at Museum of Lancashire from February to June 2013.

Free and no need to book, but more information is available from Julia Brosnan at Dovetail: julia@dovetailtogether.co.uk 0161 236 6662
