Lightbox Online is a six-month programme of talks, workshops and group critiques fostering a community of practice that will allow you to grow. There will be a focus on the skills required to sustain a career, from developing and managing standout projects, via marketing, fundraising and evaluation to collaborative working and ethical practice.
Nilupa Yasmin is an artist and educator known for her beautiful, intricately constructed artworks and large-scale installations. The weaving of photographs is core to her practice, and in this workshop she will talk through her use of the process and how it shaped her work, followed by a demonstration of the weaving technique.
Getting the business side of your practice organised is one of those tasks that always seems to slip down the to-do list. But not doing so, and not following up when your work gets misused, can be costly. Has your work ever been reproduced without your permission? Or has a client ever made more of your work than was agreed? And why when challenged do so many people say 'But it's only a photo'? This event will give you the skills and knowledge to understand when and how to push back and demand fair payment for your images.
