SixBySix presents: Lost in the Wilderness by Kalpesh Lathigra, exhibition currently showing at Ropes and Twines until 30 April, 2024.
Saturday Town is a photography series by the award-winning photographer Casey Orr. Since 2013 Casey has travelled throughout the UK with her pop-up portrait studio photographing young people on Saturday afternoons. The project explores fashion, identity and the self-expression of young people on Saturday afternoons on the high streets and public spaces of towns across the country.
This is the largest show of Saturday Town and Casey Orr’s first retrospective show - on at Open Eye Gallery intil 18 May.

Manchester Art Fair is one of the UK’s most ambitious art fairs. Selling modern & contemporary paintings, sculpture, photography and editioned prints from a selection of UK and international galleries and artists on 11-13 October at Manchester Central.
Portraits change the way we understand one another. Whether this is professional photos, selfies on Instagram or snapshots of our friends, the photos that we take of ourselves and each other speak volumes about who we are and who we want to be. Through portraits, we come face to face with someone else: they create a space in which we can challenge the assumptions that we often hold about people. This exhibition presents projects that give us a chance to empathise, to consider the experience of someone else’s life.
Join Redeye for a masterclass with the artist Edmund Clark as he explains his creative processes, approaches to photography and difficult subject matters prevalent in his most successful work.
To kick off the Autumn 2019 Redeye series of events, join us for an in conversation with three talented artists, Edmund Clark, Roxana Allison, and Pablo Allison. Each will be presenting their latest work and discussing the similarities and differences between their approach, style and subject matter.
You are invited to the private viewing of Representation on the Line III: (Un)framing Our Identities; (part of the RPS Hundred Heroines initiative) in which female photographers explore the theme of identity on Saturday 31 August, 6-8pm. If you are unable to attend on opening night, you will still be able to view the exhibition which will be open until 29 September, every Thursday-Sunday, 10.30am-4pm.
Opening Friday 10 May, Kinship at Open Eye Gallery navigates the dynamics of modern relationships. The exhibition presents projects from seven photographers, all women, addressing traditional ideas of how people might relate to others based on their gender, age, or position within a family. Together, the artists seek to open up new ways of thinking about how we express our sense of kin — as friends, family and partners. Kinship features the work of Pixy Liao, Lydia Goldblatt, Johanna Heldebro, Jenny Lewis, Momo Okabe, and Margaret Mitchell.
The event will consist of a morning of presentations by a group of expert reviewers on key features of portfolio and professional development. During the afternoon there will be opportunities for one to one portfolio advice and reviews from 3 reviewers for 20 minutes each. This event is perfect for emerging practitioners, students and artists and will provide valuable advice and reviews from leading practitioners, curators and commissioners. Speakers and reviewers include Anthony Luvera, Liz Hingley, Niall Mcdiarmid, Sebah Chaudhry and Skinder Hundal.
A rare chance to hear Turkish photographer Ali Taptik talk about his experiences ‘photographing the local’, he will be interviewed by photographer and lecturer Gavin Parry. Ali is currently visiting Manchester from his home in Istanbul on the invitation of artists’ ensemble Quarantine as part of their Tenancy programme.

Following his very popular session at the National Photography Symposium 2018, we are delighted to be working in partnership with the NUJ to welcome back photographer John Walmsley to explain how to do it.

But isn't it freeing to hear about the things that haven't quite gone to plan? Isn't it encouraging to know most people have experienced projects that go totally wrong? Yes!. This is a session to learn from each other's different situations to prevent future issues for yourself.
