We're pleased to announce this event organised by National Media Museum, Bradford in partnership with Redeye. Alex Bailey's exhibition Live By The Lens, Die By The Lens runs until 28th Sept 2008.
In recent years he has worked with some of Hollywood's biggest stars on the set of many major films including Atonement, Pride and Prejudice and Troy. Alex will give an insight into his work and the world of movie publicity photography.

It will be essential reading for anyone concerned with the current popular explosion of photography, and its use as a social and political tool.

The report features an extended essay by John Perivolaris covering the major themes and speeches of the event, which was the centrepiece of Look 07 in April 2007.

The speaker of the next Redeye network meeting is Colombian photographer and visual artist Nelson Guzmán, who is currently doing a 3-month residency in Liverpool with Visiting Arts, based at Metal and Open Eye Gallery. Nelson graduated from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá in 2005 and has already exhibited widely in Colombia, including at the Salon Regional de Artistas de Bogotá and MAMBO (Museum of Modern Art, Bogotá). His work is particularly concerned with crime and the problem of evil.

This event is aimed primarily at those intending to work in editorial, commercial and general commissioned and stock photography. It covers business setup and marketing, websites and portfolios - all the essential steps in commissions, paperwork, copyright, fees, and recent developments in stock photography. This seminar is for anyone who is about to start, or has recently commenced, working in photography and intends to make a living from it. Delivered by Redeye. Please arrive at 10am for a prompt 10.15am start.

Liverpool Network Meeting

The next Liverpool network meeting will take place at 7.30pm, 19th March 08 at Open Eye Gallery. The speaker is Peter Hagerty, a photographer and writer who has been making photographs for more than thirty years. He was the first exhibitions Director of the Open Eye Photography Gallery and also founder of the Edward Chambre Hardman Trust at No 59 Rodney Street, Liverpool which is now maintained by the National Trust.

The event is free and open to all.
