Carole Evans, photographer and co-founder of Portrait Salon, joins us at Open Eye Gallery to give a talk on her life and work.

This spring, Manchester Art Gallery will present In the Footsteps of a Master - Emily Allchurch’s first solo show in a major public gallery in the UK. To coincide with the exhibition, Redeye is hosting a talk with the artist, providing an opportunity to hear Emily speak about her life and work.

A weekend workshop with John Blakemore, one of the finest photographers and printers in the UK, on editing, sequencing, and making handmade books (please note: now sold out).

The final two career development workshops look at the different way you can get your work out and seen in public - through exhibiting, publishing in print, and online. The first in this "Getting Seen" series concentrates on exhibitions and galleries.

Exhibiting is a great way to get your work to an audience, but unfortunately everyone else thinks so too! Many photographers investigate the idea of exhibiting but retreat, baffled by the gallery system in the UK. This workshop is about demystifying the exhibiting process. It explores:

Talk and Networking: Layla Sailor

Acclaimed fashion photographer Layla Sailor joins us to deliver a talk on her work, followed by an 'in conversation' session delving into issues surrounding her practice, the balance of commercial and personal work and the development of her career since graduating from University.

After completing a degree in Photography at MMU in 2005, Layla has continued to combine commercial fashion photography with fine art and filmmaking, receiving an honourable mention at the 2009, 2013, 2014 IPA Awards and the Grand Prize for Art Takes Paris in 2013.

Career Development Session 5: Funding and Finance

Many people still believe the arts are worthy of public funding, but with the recession, and public and private purse strings drawing tighter, getting funding for your photographic or creative project seems harder than ever. But there are still plenty of opportunities; you just need to know where to look and how to present yourself and your project. This session looks at the various ways of raising money for photography and arts projects.

Photographing Fags, Freaks and Fighting: A live-art photography presentation in the theatre.

A photojournalist is bringing photography into the theatre in a unique cross-platform live-art event.

Garry Cook has developed a ground-breaking show featuring photography alongside video, music, spoken word and live performance, which will debut at the Preston Tringe festival.

Photographing Fags, Freaks and Fighting discusses themes of war, addiction, censorship and human behaviour.

The cornerstones of any business are pricing, negotiation, good administration and legal compliance. This workshop invites industry experts to share their knowledge and concentrate on these areas that are specific and vital to photography.
