Talk and Networking: An evening with Sean Raggett

Sean Raggett joins us for a talk on his recent work documenting a Polaroid factory in the Netherlands that was closed after bankruptcy of the company in 2001. Thanks to the dedication of some passionate investors, the factory reopened in 2008 and Sean was able to gain access to photograph the company and the Polaroid process.

This workshop will help anyone make striking and surprising images between dusk and dawn. It's the second in a new series from Redeye, "The Fundamentals of Photography", aimed at building your photographic style and helping you take memorable images.

No matter how brilliant your work, you'll never get anywhere if people don't know about it. Marketing is a critical factor and can make the difference between success and failure for an artist, photographer or creative business.

This session looks at the ways in which photographers, artists and makers can tap into marketing tools and successfully promote themselves and their work through marketing and networking. It's suitable not just for photographers but for artists and makers in any medium.

Carlisle Photo Festival 2014

Now in its third year, Carlisle Photo Festival 2014 includes exhibitions and events across the city. It aims to challenge ideas about the way contemporary photography can interact with both its surroundings and audience. In using unusual venues it aims to attract a wider range of the viewing public and create a buzz in the community.

Hothouse 2014

Redeye is delighted to announce the return of Hothouse our annual showcase of new and upcoming photographic talent. Hothouse is back at a brand new venue - Manchester Central Library on 25 October 2014.

Hothouse 2014 will feature a packed and varied programme of short talks from photographers about their work and projects. There will be books and portfolios on display and plenty of opportunities to chat, network and catch up with all the latest photographic news. 

On Thursday, Bettina von Zwehl will be in conversation with Martin Barnes (Senior Curator, Photographs, Victoria & Albert Museum) at the Purdy Hicks Gallery.

Bettina von Zwehl: Made Up Love Song (Victoria & Albert Museum, 2014) with an essay by David Chandler will be launched the same evening at the Gallery.

Fundamentals of Photography 1: Master your DSLR

This workshop will help anyone understand and use more easily their DSLR, Compact System Camera or any camera with manual controls. It’s the first in a new series from Redeye, “The Fundamentals of Photography”, aimed at building your photographic style and helping you take memorable images.

How do you start a photographic business? This workshop will give you the tools you need to plan, set up and improve your business before exploring the benefits (as well as the potential pitfalls) of short or long-term working collaborations.

To run a successful photography business, it’s important to understand what it really means to be a professional photographer. This workshop will help you to consider everything you need to set-up or improve your business, and will provide you with the essential know-how to attract potential clients.
