For our last event of 2020 we wanted to get together with you all for one more Stay and Chat, with a twist. We want to celebrate photography with a chat about some of our favourite photographic projects and objects. A glass of wine or your favourite drink is encouraged but unfortunately not provided, and we will toast the end of 2020.

Screen grab from Redeye Critique session

This event will be an opportunity to hear more about Lightbox Online and ask any questions about the course and how to get involved.  Redeye’s director Paul Herrmann and Programme Coordinator Rachael Burns will be on hand to talk through the aims of the course and work out if it is the right fit for you.

Lightbox Online is a six-month programme of talks, workshops and group critiques fostering a community of practice that will allow you to grow. There will be a focus on the skills required to sustain a career, from developing and managing standout projects, via marketing, fundraising and evaluation to collaborative working and ethical practice.

Student and graduation panel session: Where now?

Paul Herrmann and a group of mentors from across the image-making industry will come together to give quick-fire advice to those who have just graduated (or who are still studying) and are wondering what options there are to progress their careers in light of the recent global upheaval. The panellists will invite their audience to think creatively and adapt their mindset to a working environment that while challenging, could also offer some very different opportunities.

Ahead of the start of our autumn activities we wanted to check in with our members. This will be an online member meet-up led by Redeye Director Paul Herrmann to discuss work and photography during and after the pandemic, strategies for coping and how Redeye can best support our members.

The AGM is one of the key meetings for Redeye members each year. It's a chance to hear about and discuss plans for the future, reflect on the past year, and make some key decisions. You'll meet other Redeye members as well as staff and board members. It’s a great opportunity for any questions you have about our programme or other matters.

In 2020 for the first time it takes place virtually, on Zoom. Register below and you will be sent the Zoom link just before the event.

During the Covid-19 lockdown we’ve all become acutely aware of one of the most essential values of digital preservation: remote access. Most physical collections, libraries, and archives have been closed down for several weeks.  This two day event explores how we can best preserve and give access to our digital archives and collections.

In these unsettling times we think that it is more important than ever that we stay connected.  This event is a starting point for ‘Stay and Chat’; a remote meet up for our members to discuss the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, strategies for coping and how Redeye can best support the photographic community.

Juno Calypso is an award-winning photographic artist, working with galleries such as TJ Boulting and Foam Amsterdam, and clients including Burberry. In this talk produced in collaboration with Manchester Art Gallery she will present her work to date.

What’s changing in your life, and how are you coping? What’s on your photographic radar? What does photography need? What can Redeye do?  Please come and share your thoughts and concerns at one or more of our discussion events.
