Bursaries available on MA Visual Sociology

Two fee bursaries are available for new MA at Goldsmiths.

Drawing on Goldsmiths’ strengths in Visual Sociology, critical social analysis and experimental approaches in Science and Technology Studies, this programme is designed for students who are interested in new ways of exploring and understanding the social world through the use of visual, sensory and other inventive methods.

Call for submissions: photography with Hispanic theme

Instituto Cervantes and Redeye invite photographers and photographic artists to submit exhibition proposals for any work with a Spanish, Latin American or Hispanic theme or connection. The selected work will be exhibited at Instituto Cervantes, Manchester, in March to April 2013.

For example we are interested in:
- Work made in the UK but with a link to Spanish, Latin American or Hispanic life, work or culture.
- Work made by UK photographers in Spain or Latin America
- Work made by Spanish or Latin American photographers in the UK.

Call for Submissions: Slide Jam at the next Redeye photographers' network event

Redeye is looking for participants to take part in Slide Jam, an informal showcase event for the next photographers' network event taking place at Open Eye Gallery on Tuesday 11 December.

Photographers from all backgrounds are invited to send in the three best shots from their portfolio - or any three images they would like to show. Around 10 to 15 photographers will be selected to show and discuss their work in a five minute slot.

This is a great opportunity to share your work with fellow photographers in a fun, relaxed environment.

Magnum Showcase in Association with IdeasTap

Photographers aged 16-30 can submit their photos on a particular theme, get them reviewed by a Magnum judge and showcased on IdeasTap's site for a whole month.

This month's theme is "Uplifting Moments" and the judge is Magnum's Editorial and Publishing Representative, Jonathan Bell – deadline for submissions closes on 23 November. See the website for full details.

Director, Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool

Open Eye is looking for a new Director who can lead the organisation through what promises to be one of the most exciting and challenging periods of its 35-year life.

The new Director will maintain Open Eye's current momentum, consolidating its reputation as one of the UK's most dynamic and ambitious centres for photography. He/she will continue to build and widen audiences, and to raise the organisation's profile across the North West region and beyond.
