Eadweard Muybridge in Kingston 1894-1904: Day Symposium

This day symposium will focus on Muybridge's work in Kingston, where he was born in 1830 and died in 1904 - he spent his final decade there and bequeathed his personal archive to the Kingston Museum. The morning session will explore the dimensions of Muybridge's distinctive relationship to Kingston, and the afternoon sessions will present new and original research - on Muybridge's work, its histories, and its multiple connections - by prominent artists, film-makers and scholars.

An evening of talks from three photographers who each explore customs, rituals and traditions in their work. 

From Married Man by Natasha Caruana

Chaired by Chaired by Dr. Bex Lewis, Senior Lecturer in Digital Marketing at Manchester Metropolitan University, photographic artists Natasha Caruana and Sarah Maple explore the effect of online trolling on the individual and the artist. 

In partnership with Design Manchester, Redeye present an evening of talks and discussions on the making of a photobook, and the unique partnership between photographer and designer during this process.

Redeye member Dave Wilkinson presents an introduction to astrophotography.

In Conversation: Eggleston, An Insider’s View

Jo Ann Walters and Peter Fraser, two celebrated photographers who both spent time working side by side with Eggleston in Memphis, describe their experiences and what they learned from the artist. In conversation with the Gallery’s Head of Photographs, Phillip Prodger. This event takes place at the Ondaatje Wing Theatre at The National Portrait Gallery in London.
