Berwick Visual Arts in partnership with the NEPN and Document Scotland invite early and mid-career photographers from North-East England and the Scottish Borders for a portfolio and project mentoring session.

A full day workshop that will ground you in the basics of post-production editing software Adobe Photoshop. Regardless of your expertise in photography, it is rare to achieve such a perfect image straight from the camera that post-production editing can be bypassed. Generally, images will need to be altered in size and adjusted for exposure, tone and print. Professional photographer David Nightingale talks you through the core principals of Photoshop with practical examples; from optimising your RAW files to basic masking and layers.

Lightbox Launch

To celebrate the launch of Lightbox 2017/18, Redeye invites previous Lightbox participants to share their experiences of the course. Whilst offering the opportunity for prospective applicants to learn more about the course content and have any questions answered.

Photographic artist and Redeye member Natalie Wardle hosts an evening talk and discussion to showcase emerging northern talent whose work looks at the human form in visual art and performance.

A full day workshop that will guide you through the fundamentals of street photography.

A day of talks, workshops and a panel discussion to celebrate the contemporary photobook hosted in partnership with Manchester School of Art.

Photo Archives VI: The Place of Photography

20 April 2017, 09:15 to 21 April 2017, 16:30
Books in archive

This conference investigates photographs and photographic archives in relation to notions of place. In this context, place is used to explore both the physical location of a photograph or archive, as well as the place of photography as a discursive practice with regard to its value or significance as a method of viewing and conceiving the world.
