Kiosk Gallery Launch

Kiosk Gallery (formerly fotografica) exists to showcase the work of innovative North West based photographers, to raise the profile of photography as an art form and to make photography accessible to a wider audience. Kiosk is a child of Redeye and is run by a collective of photographers including one current and one former Redeye director. The first of a series of 3 shows opens on Friday 12th October at Great Northern opposite the Box Office of AMC cinemas Manchester (just by the Hilton Hotel), with a private view from 5.30pm-7.30pm - which all Redeye members are welcome to attend.

Hereford Photography Festival

Photography played a crucial role in making Apartheid visual to a wider public outside South Africa. This photography was pre-dominantly photo-journalistic in style and portrayed the injustices of the oppressive political system. Today, in the post apartheid era, photography is continuing to play a central role in defining South Africa, now with a written constitution and voting rights for all. South African Voices is a one-day conference on contemporary photography in South Africa. This is the central event in the current 2007 Hereford festival which is always worth a visit.
