The job holder will lead all PR functions connected to the World Photography Organisation and its activities and contribute towards the company’s communications strategies and delivery.

Media relations

  • Formulate and deliver comprehensive media relations strategies for the company and its major programmes - the Sony World Photography Awards and PHOTOFAIRS – on an international scale
  • Manage the day-to-day running of the press office
  • Write and oversee all press materials (Q&As, press releases, key messages, media briefings, etc)
  • Undertake proactive management of the World Photography Organisation reputation and its products
  • Develop and maintain good working relations with media
  • Pitch and follow up press releases
  • Secure and then oversee media partnerships for the company’s main products
  • Evaluate media campaigns
  • Create and lead press events connected to the press campaigns
  • Support on Group level art fair strategies and activities

Communications

  • With the Marketing Director, conceive, develop and implement key messages for the company across all international and external communications and materials
  • Deliver sound crisis management advice and solutions to the CEO
  • Provide proof reading and copy-editing assistance
  • Oversee all press databases and resources (Meltwater, Agility, etc)
  • Manage all external PR agencies working on the company’s products
  • Key point of contract for all partners and sponsors on press related matters connected to the company
  • Represent the company at industry events

Team management

  • Provide mentorship and management to the Press Officer and temporary Press Assistants
  • Monitor all aspects of the team’s work

BEHAVIOURS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Minimum 5 years PR experience, ideally within the field of fine arts, design, culture, architecture and / or photography
  • Proven track record of placing media coverage and delivering media campaigns
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good knowledge of arts media
  • Well organised and proactive with matriculate attention to detail
  • Proven experience of working with international media is desirable
