This illustrated talk explores the shifting identity of the photographer as a literary figure. From Nathaniel Hawthorne's admiring portrait of a young daguerreotypist in The House of the Seven Gables to the anti-hero of Blow-Up, photographers have become key representatives of modernity in imaginative writing.
This event is in support of the current exhibition:
Strangely Familiar: Photographs of Leeds by Eric Jaquier and Peter Mitchell from 1960s to the Present.
