Harry began his photographic career in his Glasgow home town, standing outside the Apollo, flogging gig-goers newly-developed shots from bands' Edinburgh shows the night before. Harry's impulse to guerilla lensmanship swiftly drew him to London: from 1979 to 1984 he was a staff photographer for the music weekly Sounds, providing countless front covers. More →

CUBEOpen is the UK’s only annual open competition and exhibition of its kind.
Launched in 2007, artists, architects and designers are invited to apply with work that reflects current trends and debates surrounding the spaces and places in which we live. A significant number of the works on display this year are photographic. It receives applications from around the globe, and visitors to the exhibition have the opportunity to see the diverse and engaging ways that artists, architects and designers have been influenced by our surroundings. This exhibition shows photographs of Bolton taken by Anna White during her 2010/11 John Marriott Humphrey Spender scholarship year.
The exhibition is supported by Bolton le Moors Rotary Club and the University of Bolton.
Anna was tasked with re-interpreting Humphrey Spender’s Worktown project of the 1930s, and for the last year have been documenting everyday life in Bolton. The poet Andrew McMillian has also created original works based on interviews taken in Bolton. More →

The exhibition runs from Monday 16th January 2012 right through to Sunday 22nd of January and the venue is 4 Piccadilly Place, Manchester M1 3BN.
