Artist David Bailey is best known for his portraits of the trendsetting faces commonly seen in the pages of Vogue and, most recently, in Bailey’s Stardust at London’s National Portrait Gallery.

In addition to portraits of iconic figures such as Mick Jagger, Bailey: For Real presents a collection of his photographs of the everyday, including captivating portraits of anonymous figures in Delhi and stark images of London’s East End. These works constitute a relatively unexplored yet equally intriguing component of Bailey’s artistic oeuvre. More →

At the start of 2013, John Shinnick, a Manchester photographer, set out to document the people using a city centre bus stop in Manchester; a quiet stop where people rarely alight and where five people is a busy day.

It’s a stop that takes people to the North of the city: Oldham, Sholver, Failsworth. He was looking, perhaps, to get some interesting portraits, but ended up with a whole lot more: Bus Stop Stories. More →

Liverpool

Ebb and Flow is an audio-visual survey of the history and changes that have taken place within the oldest Chinese community in Europe, curated by Jill Carruthers.

Drawing from the rich selection of photographic prints preserved in the Open Eye Gallery Archive, the show looks at the physical and architectural transformations of Liverpool’s Chinatown, as well as documenting the establishment and development of the local Chinese community. More →

Fourteen eclectic photography students from Manchester School of Art will be exhibiting work at Think/Classify, an exhibition at Federation House, Manchester, with work including still life, documentary, appropriation and fashion. They take their title from Georges Perec's exploratory essay of the same name. More →

Artists Lucy Harrison and Katherine Green have collaborated on a new project that surveys the former Warner Estate in the suburbs of east London.

The artists have worked with the archive of the Walthamstow Historical Society and with local writer and researcher Kirstin Sibley to produce the first extensive survey of how these uniqueand distinctive 19th and early 20th-century properties are used in modern times. The results will be presented in an exhibition from 30 May – 15 June 2014 in London. More →

Emma's show is based on how western art has objectified woman and this has become something that has continued throughout photography (Berger, 1972).

According to Berger, the way women have been portrayed in Western art has been largely influenced by the biblical story of Adam and Eve. Eve is condemned by God to the punishment of childbirth and to become the property of man, according to the Old Testament. Emma has based her graduate show on this and how these religious readings have had a negative impact on how women are seen in modern society. More →

Evoking death, drama and identity, George Chakravarthi re-imagines thirteen characters in Shakespeare’s plays who met their ends through suicide.
