An exhibition in the dark - bring your own light. Blackout is an MA network group exhibition from students and lecturers of Manchester School of Art. Combining photography, fine art, sculpture, audio work and performance art, this exhibition eclectically explores ideas of place, history, politics and memory.

The Stockport Air Raid Shelters were originally opened in 1939 as the largest purpose-built civilian shelter in the country, able to provide a safe haven for up to 6,500 people. It was later reopened in 1996 as a museum and visitor attraction. More →

Andrew Parsons has spent his career capturing the political campaigns that have shaped our country today. The exhibition Royalty, Politics and War at the Ellwood Atfield Gallery examines the central role that the photojournalist plays in the complex world of contemporary communications.

Parsons is well known for his visual documentation of David Cameron’s political life, including an inside view into the coalition talks following the General Election in 2010. Parsons was also photographer to Boris Johnson during his mayoral campaign in 2012. More →

Wish You Were Here returns this summer with another series of exhibitions and events by Wales-based, early career photographic artists.

During the month of May this year, landscape photographer John Davies spent 90 minutes each day for 10 days in the public green space of the Meadows parkland. He asked a total of 114 adults if he could take their picture.

Ninety-eight people agreed to have their portraits made to be included in exhibitions to help promote awareness of the potential loss of the Meadows.

The Mayor of Liverpool is proposing to sell off Sefton Park Meadows for executive housing. A planning application to develop and sell the Meadows will probably be decided by September 2014. More →
