Shadows of the North is a brief look at the remains of the northern textile industry, exploring both the industrial landscape the mills inhabit, and the crumbling structures themselves.
Although the industry decline started in the 1950s, the increasingly global economy has seen the remaining mills struggle to compete, and with closure and demolition being the ultimate fate, the shape of our urban landscapes is changing. More →

Sport, like art, is a universal language, it is part of our everyday lives, and a feature of our society’s diverse cultural life, involving people of all abilities and backgrounds. This exhibition, which takes place in two venues across North Ayrshire coincides with the Commonwealth Games in Scotland and celebrates the exceptional and the commonplace in sport.

Shutter Hub's exhibition, entitled 'The Transition of Time', is being held in the Bridewell Theatre Bar Gallery in the historical surroundings of St Bride Foundation in London's Fleet Street.
We asked for entrants to take their inspiration from the impact of the Industrial Revolution, and put forward images that demonstrate progression, inventions, traditions, industry and change. The submissions we received certainly didn't disappoint in terms of the brief, and the high quality of all the applications.

Russian Criminal Tattoo Police Files is a selection of photographs of Russian prisoners tattoos collected by Arkady Bronnikov between the mid-1960s and mid-1980s. A senior expert in criminalistics at the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs for over thirty years, part of Bronnikov's duties involved visiting correctional institutions of the Ural and Siberia regions. It was here that he interviewed, gathered information and photographed of convicts and their tattoos, building one of the most comprehensive archives of this phenomenon acquired by FUEL in 2013. Primrose showcases the appearance and development of colour in Russian photography from the 1860s to the 1970s. It presents both the history of Russian photography and the history of Russia in photography, depicting life over the course of a century, as the country endured unprecedented upheaval.
The exhibition is arranged in chronological order and shows the development of photographic colour technology and the social transformations which altered the role of photography in Russian society. More →
Inspired by notions of 'home' and 'community', Common Ground brings together new work from two photographic collectives taking an outward-facing view of their respective home countries of Scotland and Wales. Working with diverse themes and ideas associated with distinctive national and cultural visual inspiration, this collective exhibition welds them together into a cohesive narrative, at times overlapping and continuously referencing and complementing each other. August 2015 will see the 70th anniversary of the dropping of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
