LITTORAL ARTS - CREATIVE RURAL ECONOMY CONFERENCE

Taking place at University of Lancaster from 10th - 13th September 2006. This event will centre on the arts and regeneration in creative rural communities. Among the speakers is friend of Redeye and leading figure in European photography, Paul Wombell, who will no doubt discuss the role of the Hereford Photography Festival (of which he's now director), as part of the Grains of Truth seminar on 12th September. TRAFFORD TOWN HALL CAMPAIGN

Photographer, writer and website publisher, Aidan O'Rourke is involved in the campaign to save Trafford Town Hall from demolition. He is organising an exhibition of photography and art to celebrate the building and highlight its unique qualities.

Photographers and artists are invited to submit their interpretations of Trafford Town Hall - 'straightforward architectural' or 'weird wacky and wonderful' are welcome. The aim is to put together a diverse collection of 20 to 30 images, around three or four from each contributor.

If you'd like to do something to help save this important piece of Manchester's heritage, please contact info@aidan.co.uk. The exhibition is set to begin in Autumn 2006.

SETTING UP SCHEME

Call for Expressions of Interest from Artists

The Setting Up Scheme Project offers 2-year Creative Business Incubation Placements based in Greater Manchester (Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Wigan). The Design Initiative are seeking to recruit eight artists for the next scheme, October 2006 - September 2008. The Scheme is an intensive business incubation project that offers a unique creative collaboration between a designer and a public or private Host organisation. The Scheme offers rent-free workspaces and specialist equipment, business advice, a workshop programme and specialist business consultancy to designer-makers, new media, multi-media and visual artists who wish to establish a business in the North West. The new programme, with eight potential placements in Greater Manchester only, will start formal recruitment in August 2006 for suitable artists.

FUTURES - MERSEYSIDE'S NETWORK FOR DESIGN PROFESSIONALS

A new design network is launching on Merseyside, targeting designers working in the communications field - graphic design, web design, advertising, interactive media and related services, such as illustration and commercial photography. The Futures network will operate through an online membership scheme and directory, provide a dedicated news and opportunities service and will host a series of seminars and events.

Futures has been organised by Design Initiative in association with 'V' and Merseyside ACME and will launch on Wednesday 26th July 2006 at 5.30pm at Static, 23 Roscoe Lane, Liverpool.
