Julian Trevelyan's Worktown exhibition at Bolton Museum

This exhibition explores the work of Julian Trevelyan and his studies on the Mass Observation project. In 1937, artist Humphrey Jennings, newspaper reporter and poet Charles Madge and anthropologist Tom Harrisson formed the Mass Observation team. Bolton was chosen as the base for northern research because it seemed like a typical northern town. Julian Trevelyan joined the team in 1937. He was one of a number of artists invited by Tom Harrisson to record what it felt like to be in Bolton.

2008 Jerwood Photography Awards Winners Exhibition

The sixth annual Jerwood Photography Awards in collaboration with Portfolio Magazine and the Jerwood Charitable Foundation.
The exhibition showcases new work by five of the finest emerging photographers, announced at the Jerwood Space on 6 November. The five winners, Martina Lindqvist, Alice Myers, James Pogson, Kurt Tong and Nicky Walsh were selected from UK institutions as the most innovative and promising recent graduates, and will exhibit at the Jerwood Space from 7 November to 11 December 2008.

Warrington-based photographer Martin O'Neill has spent 2008 celebrating 30 years as a photographer, with exhibitions in Manchester & Tokyo..and a self-published book.
A set of prints of Joy Division at their 1979 Bowdon Vale, Altrincham, gig, was taken to Tokyo for an exhibition in the summer (and looks likely to travel to Hong Kong), and a set of 100 photographs called Eccles 1977 was shown at Eccles Library.
Now O'Neill has self-published his book, called Don't Miss This...a set of 83 b/w photographs taken with an Olympus XA camera in the 1980's.
