FORMAT International Photography Festival presents a selection of the best of international photography in a diverse programme of exhibitions and events. FORMAT is curated by Louise Clements, Artistic Director of QUAD & FORMAT, hosted & organised by QUAD and the University of Derby.

Hungry Still showcases 24 of the best international photographers, presenting multimedia photo stories featuring incredible images and narratives from all over the world.

Slide-shows by the 24 artists will be installed on screens in QUAD Gallery, complimented by a special programme of events featuring recipes relating to the concept, locations and stories behind the work. QUAD and Slideluck London have collaborated on workshops relating to photography and multimedia alongside a new publication designed by Akina Factory.

Present Perfect? is an exhibition of contemporary photography by Iranian artists whose work examines modern-day Iran. Through the creative minds and voices of these photographers Iran’s histories and heritage, political and cultural systems, gender, cultural identity and everyday life are explored and discussed.

FORMAT13 is the sixth edition of the biennale festival, presented by QUAD and the University of Derby which takes place from 8th March until 7th April 2013.

In a programme which promises to be the biggest and most ambitious yet, an exciting line-up of exhibitions will take place in QUAD and throughout Derby, alongside events for everyone for those just interested in Photography to professional Photographers.

Illuminated is an exhibition that features artists who incorporate sculptural, photographic and metaphorical light in their work.

The artits featured often using scientific methodologies and influences, as well as artists who produce work that is in some way transformative, or suggests a change in either an object or within the human spirit or psyche. Curated by Peter Bonnell.

A major survey exhibition and publication featuring the best photographic talents from or within Australia and the UK will take place in QUAD Gallery and the Silk Mill in Derby from March 2012. Hijacked III: Contemporary Photography from Australia and the UK is programmed part of FORMAT International Photography Festival UK off year programme.
