Join renowned architectural photographer and trainer Martine Hamilton Knight for a day learning about the benefits of using good photography to promote your work and practice.

Previously the domain of skilled professionals, the digital revolution has meant that more architects can now get ‘stuck in’ and take competent images of their projects.

In this informative and ‘hands on’ day, speaker explores what is possible with your camera, vital kit you will need to get good shots, and moreover how to best use the skills you have to create them.You will learn about basic rights with regard to the use of images on the web, copyright, protecting your work online and moreover, getting Google to find your work in the first place! Finally, you will have the opportunity to shoot with your camera at the location with the speaker on hand to guide you to in setting up specific shot types (weather permitting internal or external locations).

Four sessions for the course include:

  • The role of an architectural photographer: what the job entails?
  • A guide to basic camera skills
  • Workshop session (external or internal)
  • A look at images online: metadata, copyright and authorship
  • Equipment to bring - camera, lens(es), a tripod if you have one, outdoor clothing, notebook and pen.

Speaker: Martine Hamilton Knight

Since graduating from the Surrey Institute of Art (WSCAD) in 1990, Martine has specialised in architectural photography. Over the last 24 years, she has run a successful business based in Nottingham working for architects, construction companies, interior designers and advertising agencies. She was awarded an honorary doctorate in 2012 by the University of Nottingham in recognition of her contribution to the industry. She lectures about her work nationally and is a Global Ambassador for the photographic company Manfrotto.
