The Photography Show: Paul Herrmann

16 March 2019, 09:00 to 19 March 2019, 17:00

Redeye Director Paul Herrmann will be leading a session and taking part in a panel discussion at The Photography Show in Birmingham this year. The details of these talks are below.

Digital legacy for photographers, 12-12.40pm

This session explores the challenges and possible solutions for any photographers looking to preserve their digital work in the long term, and keep it visible and accessible for future generations.

Can you remember a time when you found a photographic print - in a cupboard, drawer or shoebox? How might we do the same with digital images? How will people look at born-digital photography created now, in a hundred years time? Like a box of prints, it'll just be... there, right? Possibly. But whether it will be findable or accessible is a different matter. Increasingly, digital work is lost, abandoned, disconnected or deleted. Redeye has researched this extensively, and will discuss some straightforward things all photographers can do to preserve their work well into the future.
