Multiplicity and Meaning

12 November 2011, 11:00 to 13 November 2011, 18:00

In this two-day intensive workshop, award-winning photojournalist Mimi Mollica will encourage participants to develop their own eye for the urban locale.

The activity is in response to the new exhibition at Cornerhouse by Rashid Rana: Everything Is Happening At Once, in which Rashid Rana, considered to be one of South Asia's leading contemporary artists, combines photography with sculptural form (both mid and large-scale), mosaic methods, and pixellation.

A key approach in Rashid Rana’s ongoing body of work is the challenge to photographic form and the concept of two-dimensionality; ranging from dilapidated dwellings to gradations of skin and waste. By recombining multiple images in a consciously deliberate presentation, Rana both imbues and reveals deeper layers of intent.

The second day will involve the use of post-production methods in our Mac studio suite under expert assistance to experiment with multiplicity and meaning.

Led by Mimi Mollica and Sally Olding.
