From 13th May through to 1st September 2019, the National Coal Mining presents Ian Beesley’s Grafters: Industrial Society in image and word, an exhibition that explores scenes of industrial life in 19th, 20th and 21st century Britain. Following successful exhibitions at the Peoples History Museum in Manchester and the Bradford Industrial Museum, Grafters: Industrial Society in image and word comes to the National Coal Mining Museum in Wakefield. The series sees the role of industrial workers change from objects to subjects, from units of scale to heroes. Latterly workers became the photographers themselves, directing and shooting pictures of their own lives, seen through their own lens.

The exhibition is open from 15 May - 1 September 2019, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
