Black and White Beginners Weekend

Learn the whole process of photography, in one weekend, using a 35mm SLR camera. From exposure and composition to processing your film, printing up contact sheets and making enlargements. This course will equip you with the skills required to use a darkroom without assistance. Ideal for those with no previous experience, or requiring a refresher. GRAIN Portfolio Development Day

GRAIN, the photography hub and network for the West Midlands, is excited to be delivering one of its first professional development opportunities in the region in collaboration with Birmingham City University and its project partners. The event is ticketed and places must be booked in advance.

The Social: Encountering Photography

The Photo Book Big Weekender

The United Nations of Photography present the first ever weekend devoted to the photo book as part of the Cheltenham Literary Festival in association with the University of Gloucestershire.

Talk and Networking: Documenting Syria with Musa Chowdhury

Musa will be talking about his work and experiences documenting the Syrian war with the Free Syrian Army fighting on the front line, as well as the human cost of this civil war that has claimed the lives of over 100,000 people.

At a time when foreign governments are considering military action in Syria, this promises to be a topical and thought-provoking evening. Due to the rapidly changing situation in Syria please check the Redeye website before the event.
