Indre Serpytyte’s work explores history, individual and collective memory and loss, relating to her family history and that of Lithuania, her native country, immediately prior to its independence from Soviet occupation. The artist’s recent work 1944 – 1991 examines anti-Soviet resistance in Lithuania, the so-called ‘war after the war’. Her images invoke the memory of these events by visiting actual sites, including photographing the forests of the so called ‘forest brothers‘ and former houses of NKVD-NKGB-MVD-MGB Soviet forces. Scotland
2013 marks 20 years since Street Level staged the first major exhibition of Baltic photography in Britain, which included work from Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. This current exhibition focuses on photography from Lithuania, including significant work from the 80s and 90s. A critical component is the inclusion of some work by little known artists groups which expressed a postmodern view of the world and a shift from traditional approaches - the Carnavora group, and the mysterious and untypical Doooooris. John H. White (*1945) is a renowned American photojournalist. His photography documents everyday lives and political events in American cities, particularly Chicago. He was a staff photographer on the Chicago Sun-Times for 35 years, and won a Pulitzer prize in 1982.
This exhibition concentrates on photographs depicting life for families living in Chicago housing projects in the 1980s. More →

An Impressions Gallery touring exhibition, Hidden recreates great moments in the long struggle for rights and representation in Britain.
It is particularly fitting that these photographic tableaux be on show at the People’s History Museum – the national museum of democracy in Britain and the home of ‘ideas worth fighting for’. With the past often dominated by Kings, Queens and military battles, the aim of the Hidden project was to recreate the historic scenes involving the dissenters, revolutionaries, radicals and non-conformists who have often been hidden from history. An exhibition of new photographs taken in Jersey by Michelle Sank, Archisle International Photographer in Residence 2013.
As the first photographer to take up this newly initiated post in the British Channel Island of Jersey from April to September 2013 Sank has been commissioned to produce a new body of photographs in Jersey for the Archisle Collection at the Société Jersiaise (Jersey Society) Photographic Archive. This work is a contemporary response to the cultural landscape and community of the island of Jersey encompassing multiple photographic genres. More →
