Redeye is very pleased to announce an exciting new annual bursary for Redeye members: The Redeye Digital Printing Bursary with Jack Lowe Studio.
Each year one Redeye member will have the opportunity to have works printed by highly acclaimed printer Jack Lowe up to the value of £750.

Jack Lowe, photographer and high end digital printer has worked with some of Britain’s most inspiring photographers, including Julian Germain, Paul Kenny, Tom Stoddart, Julian Calverley and Jonathan Knowles to name a few. And we are delighted that he is offering a yearly bursary to Redeye members.

The bursary will involve up to two days of directed digital printing to produce a series of images for a photographer’s portfolio to the value of up to £750. The printing can either be done in your own studio or at Jack Lowe Studio in Newcastle upon Tyne. An overnight stay if needed will be sponsored by Redeye.

The bursary is purely for work shot as RAW files or high resolution scans from film. Whilst work can be from your archive, the bursary is aimed at encouraging new work and is expected to be images that have never been shown before.

Jack Lowe says:
“I’m looking forward to working closely with the bursary winner, helping craft their photography into sumptuous prints.
“I love to see well-executed, strong, simple ideas, so I’m hoping we’ll see these elements shine through in the bursary entries.”

Entry to this bursary is open to all Redeye members. If you haven’t joined as a member, please visit the Join page.

Applicants will be judged on a body of work that is either the proposed images for the bursary or a concise body representative of the work to be printed. Please send in a maximum of six printed images (working prints), maximum size A4, unmounted. This should be accompanied by a paragraph explaining why you wish to take part, what you hope to gain from the bursary, a summary of experience to date and any words supporting the images. The maximum combined length of this text is 400 words and it should fill no more than one side of A4. The deadline is 1 March 2014.
