The Experimental presents its Invited Artists: Registration open for the experimental photography festival of Barcelona: 100 activities in 5 days
The Experimental Photo Festival 2024 is set to captivate audiences from July 24 to 28, 2024, offering a diverse array of 52 workshops, 20 conferences, 20 exhibitions, 3 portfolio reviews, and an experimental artistic Residency spanning 10 days. With over 100 face-to-face and online activities curated by 51 international artists and curators, the festival promises to be an immersive exploration of experimental photography in all its forms.
Organized by a non-profit cultural association committed to promoting and disseminating experimental photography, the festival embodies a transdisciplinary approach, recognizing the interplay between photography and other artistic disciplines such as cinema, painting, music, and more. It serves as an annual meeting point for artists worldwide to collaborate, exchange knowledge, and showcase groundbreaking projects.
Located at the Center Cívic Pati Llimona and the Institut d'Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya, the festival offers a vibrant platform for technical exploration, international collaboration, and the celebration of experimental photography on a global scale. Directors Laura Ligari and Pablo Giori emphasize the event's commitment to economic transparency and gender equality, making it a cornerstone in the international photography community.
Notable invited artists include Malín Fabbri from Sweden, Gabriele Coassin and Virginia Dal Magro from Italy, Kimberly Halyburton from Chile, Edward Levinson and Ellen Carey from the United States, Justin Quinnell from the United Kingdom, Hilde Maassen from the Netherlands, Jana Kießer from Germany and many more.
The festival kicks off on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, with an evening exhibition opening. From Wednesday, July 24th onwards, daily activities commence at 9:30 a.m. at the Pati Llimona Civic Center, featuring workshops, conferences, and debates until 7 p.m. Each evening, attendees can enjoy exhibition inaugurations and cultural events across various venues in the city, culminating in a beachside picnic on Sunday night, July 28.
