Redeye is always looking for people to volunteer.
If you haven't already subscribed to Redeye, there you have the option to tell us more about the skills you have on offer. You can also log in and amend your details to include this information.
We try and involve volunteers quite long term. Many of those who have volunteered with us have found it of considerable benefit to their careers, some have gone into jobs as a direct result of volunteering, and we always prioritise career and professional development help for our regular volunteers.
We expect all volunteers to be motivated, self-starters, 100% reliable and willing to work on their own.
To go through the types of volunteer work we are seeking:
1) Work at events is occasional, sometimes evening and weekends. It includes general help such as reception and ushering; photographic teaching assisting; and other technical skills.
2) Work on the website can be regular ongoing work, involving entry and checking of specialist information such as events and exhibitions.
3) Admin and general work in our office in Manchester can be typically two to four days per month, or more. At the moment we don't have the space to accommodate that but please keep in touch if that is your interest.
4) Minute taking, review writing and other writing jobs.
5) Other skills are often needed: legal, business, property, marketing, human resources, portfolio reviewing, health and safety, photography, sound engineering, video camera operation, video editing, multimedia editing, web geekery, translation, interpreting, sign language, catering, training in any area, driving large vehicles, or maybe you have a studio, event space or other facility that Redeye could use occasionally.
If you would like to contact us with a view to volunteering regularly, would you please assemble the following details:
• Full contact details including phone & address.
• The kind(s) of work (above) which appeal to you.
• A list of your skills, whether qualified or not.
• Details of any role(s) and time spent in previous jobs and voluntary activities, or a CV if you have one.
• Names, emails and phone numbers of two referees, who should have knowledge of your achievements. One of them should preferably be your most recent employer, senior colleague, client, course leader or activity co-ordinator. Please indicate whether you are happy for us to contact them direct.
