Photographers protest over arrests

Flash mob at shopping centres, 12th September is part of broader campaign

The campaign "I'm a photographer, not a terrorist" plans its first public "flash mob" for 3pm on 12th September 2009. The main event takes place at Canary Wharf, London, while the campaign encourages photographers to follow suit and get out their cameras at shopping centres around the UK at the same time.

The campaign is focussing on shopping centres as they are examples of privately-owned spaces that normally allow public access, but frequently clamp down on the use of cameras.

The flash mob idea was developed at Redeye's National Photography Symposium in June 2009. Full details of the campaign are here - you can also buy a T-shirt to help the campaign:
