More and more photographers are realising the value of photography in video format. Putting work on YouTube or higher quality hosting sites like Vimeo opens up a whole new audience; and a soundtrack of commentary, interviews, music or ambient noise adds another dimension to the work. If you can add html to your own site you can embed videos without using up your bandwidth and space.
Simple recommendations:
• Keep it short, punchy and interesting - people have very limited attention spans online;
• Use the format to tell a story - think of it as a movie rather than individual images;
• Pay careful attention to the soundtrack - the wrong one can drown the images.
