I was surprised how many members there are that are just spammers that put web addresses as medical/foreign and porn sites.

Is there any admin that filters requests for membership?

It seems quite prolific.

Come on Redeye.

Its not surprising this forum is getting used less and less.

Look at all the crap thats been posted, by new members?, in the past 6 months or so, even worse of late.

Its all gone a bit stagnant really hasnt it?

Yup! It's all sex, drugs and no pictures of rock 'n' roll.

I used to report the spam, but the last few I reported were ignored - so I gave up.

It is a shame really as Redeye has a lot of potential in the Northwest and these forums could be used to promote and network photography more in the Northwest.

We got a lot of spam in the last few days, apologies for this.

Please continue to report spam (by pressing the "report" button) - if we get a report we always deal with it, so if the reporting doesn't seem to be working for you, please follow it up with an email. Your reports are always appreciated and very useful.

Thanks.

Paul, Redeye

The level of discussion on this Redeye Forum is very poor indeed. It's doing British Photography a great disservice.

Sorry to hear that Andy. Then, what would you propose to increase the level of quality discussion? Put some "filters", which kind of?

No I wouldn't propose filters. I'm just disapointed at the level of discussion on here. Personally i'd like to see debates about what's going on in British Contemporary Photography. Whether people think it's good or bad. Reviews on current exhibitions. Is British Photography and what is shown being dictated by the Curators and the Galleries or the actual photographers? Is paying £40 plus for a portfolio review by erm distinguished practitioners good value for money and what criteria are they using? I could go on but hopefully you get my drift?
Regards

Andy

As I stated in my post above from 2008, these forums have the potential to build a good network for photographers across the Northwest.

Not sure why the site has not become high profile in the Northwest - perhaps it is time to revamp the forums giving a lot more sections similar to other sites.

ie.

General:
Exhibitions & Announcements
Work wanted / Offered
General chat
Meetings

Photography Section:

General
Wedding & Portrait
Commercial
Advertising
Journalism

Digital / Computing:
Photoshop / Lightroom
Software ( general )
Mac Related Issues
PC Related Issues
Digital chat ( general chat )

Cameras & Equipment:
Nikon
Canon
Other
Studio

Education:
Courses

Models:
Offering or looking for work
Portfolios - tfp / tfcd / wanted

It seems to me quite obvious why it's not become high profile in the North West and it's partly because the forum does not know what it wants to be or which direction it wants to go in. The list of your sections is trying to be all things to all people and as such most of what is on is the site is banal and trite.
