Redeye, in partnership with Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool, is very pleased to launch what promises to be its most adventurous and exciting education project yet - Lightbox.
It will give the UK's most promising photographers the chance to be involved in Look2011, the photography festival taking place in Liverpool in May 2011.
It starts with an intensive week packed with all kinds of information, workshops and networking to help boost your photographic career, on 31st August to 4th September 2010.
Spinning off from that will be several collaborative photographic projects taking place over the following eight months, and culminating in a range of exhibited or published projects during Look2011.
It's aimed at all serious photographers or photographic artists - whether you've recently graduated, or are an accomplished amateur or professional photographer looking to expand your horizons.
There's nothing else like this on offer in the UK. One participant in its forerunner, our exhibition workshops, wrote:
"Many of my photographer friends would literally bite off an arm to have been involved."
Entry is by application only. Please download the PDF for full details. Remember the deadline for receipt of your application is 20 July 2010.

FAQs added 14 July 2010
Q Are you looking for the photographs to follow the theme of Look2011 or are you looking for a varied selection with an open theme?
A The submitted photos can be to any theme. The Stage 2 projects are likely to address the Look2011 theme.
Q Could you please confirm that the photos submitted are just for the purposes of this application i.e. they are not going to be used for any other purposes?
A Yes, that's correct, the photos submitted with the application will not be used for other purposes. However in the past the selection panel has taken note of submissions that they particularly like.
Q Are there likely to be other costs that I should be taking account of at this stage?
A Yes, there might be production costs associated with the Stage 2 project - in the past these have been of the order of £100 per person but it varies a lot; but usually you will own whatever you produce. There is also travel and subsistence around the workshops.
Q It seems the program is aimed at people already working in the industry. Is this the case or can amateurs apply as well? Is there a minimum standard of photographic education required?
A There is no minimum standard of education and amateurs are welcome to apply. It will suit you if you are already a good photographer and also enthusiastic and willing to explore ideas and work in a group. It will still be possible to attend the first week and pick up a lot of information without going on to the group projects.
Q Is it possible to submit my application via email with a link to my 6 images?
A No, this is by postal application only; or submissions may be hand delivered until 17:00 on 20 July.
