Deadline:

*Please note the below contains two different opportunities with two different deadlines. Please check the deadline of the opportunity you are applying for in the text below.

Redeye is very keen to encourage more photographers to work with community groups and to develop their knowledge and abilities in training. We are pleased to have two new opportunities for photographers and photography trainers, as part of a new programme Culture Shifts; an Open Eye Gallery and multi-partner programme exploring photography within socially engaged practice.

1. Paid teaching and facilitating

We have a number of paid opportunities for photographers to deliver workshops to small groups in North West England. Specifically, you will be spending one or more half-day sessions teaching youth workers, charity volunteers, health staff or community activists how they might use photography to help their clients express visual ideas and stories, how to shoot work as connected images or in a narrative form, and edit and sequence it appropriately. You will be showing examples of photography used successfully in this way, and suggest straightforward ways that the participants can help their own clients improve their photography and try out new things. You will need some teaching, training or facilitating experience. We can offer a fee of £250 per session including travel. This needs to include a short handout summarising your workshop and advice.

If you are interested, please email submissions@redeye.org.uk with the subject Trainer opportunity and include:

  • Up to 300 words outlining your existing experience in this area;
  • The name, email and phone number of someone who can give a reference that you have worked with in this capacity;
  • Your contact details and links to your web site and/or CV.

Email us by noon on 7 September 2016. You will receive an automated acknowledgement of receipt; if you don’t, please check your spam folder and then call 0845 456 0260. This opportunity is open to all but priority will be given to Redeye members (please mention if you are a member). If you are selected we will contact you by the end of September. VAT may be added to the fee if you are VAT registered.

2. Free learning around community projects

We are also able to offer the opportunity for a small number of Redeye members without the relevant teaching or training experience, but who would like to develop this side of their work, to sit in on one of the above workshops. This will build your contacts and your knowledge of training and working with community groups.

If you are interested, please email submissions@redeye.org.uk with the subject Sitting in on group training and up to 200 words outlining your plans in this area, along with your contact details. Email us by noon on 19th September 2016. You will receive an automated acknowledgement of receipt; if you don’t, please check your spam folder and then call 0845 456 0260. This opportunity is only open to Redeye members. Click here to find out more about membership and how to join. If you are selected we will contact you by 24 October 2016.

Please note, if you have not heard back from us by the dates given that means we are not able to offer you the opportunity. We strongly urge you to include daytime and evening phone numbers and an email address in your contact details. If you do not use the exact subjects given, we will not contact you.

Please apply for one or the other opportunity above, but not both.
